As a Web Governance Admin, you'll be working as part of the Web Strategy team managing the University’s web estate registry and help website owners improve their sites’ performance in areas of security, accessibility and sustainability, including compliance with current UK legislation and regulations.
What the job involves:
- Keep the University web estate registry up to date, updating records and adding/deleting entries as appropriate.
- Administer the use of the registry tool and its data via appropriate dashboards and visualisations by website owners and practitioners around the university, supporting their training and seeking best possible understanding of their needs.
- Monitor, analyse and report on the outputs from the registry software. The audience includes senior stakeholders and governance groups.
- Help build processes for contacting owners and editors around the University and help manage communications around key issues of ownership and governance, including site quality, security and compliance with accessibility and data protection legislation.
- Support senior stakeholders to successfully deliver initiatives focused in improving the regulatory compliance and overall performance of the University’s web estate.
A bit about you:
- Current UG/PG student (or starting in Sept 2026) at the University of Edinburgh
- An organised and meticulous approach to complex tasks.
- Demonstrable experience of working with data, and relevant operations, e.g. collecting, organising, classifying, filtering using relevant tools and applications.
- A clear desire to learn and develop skills relevant to digital services governance.
- Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to problem solve and be accurate and methodical.
- A proven ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable with excellent time-management skills.

About the Team
The Learning, Teaching & Web Services Directorate (LTW) brings together technology enhanced learning, e-learning, the University website, web services, graphics, multimedia, digital skills training and classroom technology teams to support learning, teaching and outreach for an enhanced student experience.
We provide a wide range of technology and support services for innovative learning and teaching, including classroom tools, virtual learning environment (VLE), blended learning, bespoke development, online video, open educational resources (OER), taught online Masters programmes, massive open online courses (MOOCs), feedback and assessment. We manage the continuing expansion and diversification of the University website, student portal, and provide digital technology services in 400 teaching rooms and study spaces across the campus.
Every year we host student internships, projects and events which promote innovation and align with the University strategic aims to promote new ways of working in learning, teaching and research.
