We are working with an established European EV charging business that is making a significant investment into the continued growth of its UK charging network.


As part of this expansion, we are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to take ownership of legal matters relating to the company's UK real estate and charging infrastructure portfolio.


This is a key position within the UK business, working closely with the wider European legal team and supporting the continued acquisition, development and operation of EV charging sites across the country.


The Role

You will take responsibility for a broad range of UK commercial property and infrastructure legal matters, including:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, underleases, easements, licences, variations and option agreements
  • Supporting the acquisition and development of new EV charging locations
  • Conducting title investigations, preparing Reports on Title and resolving title-related issues
  • Working with landlords, local authorities, DNOs / IDNOs and other external stakeholders
  • Supporting legal matters relating to substations and associated electrical infrastructure
  • Identifying and mitigating legal and commercial risks across property transactions
  • Managing external legal counsel and outsourced matters
  • Developing and improving property legal templates, processes and documentation
  • Working closely with commercial, development and project teams across the UK
  • Supporting the wider European legal team on cross-border matters where required


We are looking for someone who:

  • Is qualified to practise law in England & Wales
  • Has ideally 3–4+ years PQE
  • Has strong UK commercial property / real estate experience
  • Is confident drafting and negotiating commercial property agreements
  • Can independently manage transactions and a busy workload
  • Has strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to legal matters
  • Is comfortable working directly with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Has experience within EV charging, energy, utilities or infrastructure – highly advantageous
  • Has previous in-house experience – advantageous but not essential
  • Has knowledge of Scottish property law – beneficial but not essential
