About the role

Daily Supply Short-Term Long-Term Opportunities

Support children. Work locally. Feel valued.

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for flexible work, regular placements, or a longer-term role where you can really get to know a school and its pupils?

I'm working on behalf of Reed Education, supporting a growing number of primary schools across the Barnsley area, and I'm keen to speak with reliable, enthusiastic Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting children's learning and development.

Due to the high quality of staff within the Reed Barnsley team and the strong level of service schools receive, more schools are choosing to work with Reed. As a result, there is a high volume of Teaching Assistant work available throughout the academic year, across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

This means consistent opportunities, a choice of roles, and schools that genuinely value the contribution of support staff.

Opportunities available
  • Daily supply roles offering flexibility and variety
  • Short-term assignments covering staff absence and additional support needs
  • Long-term roles providing routine, consistency and strong relationships with schools
  • General classroom support alongside the class teacher
  • 1:1 support and small group interventions
  • Opportunities to work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Local Barnsley schools with realistic travel expectations
  • Competitive daily pay, paid weekly
Why Teaching Assistants choose Reed Barnsley

Reed Barnsley works closely with its schools, focusing on long-term relationships rather than last-minute cover. Schools continue to join Reed because they trust the quality, professionalism and reliability of the Teaching Assistants they receive.

For you, this means:

  • Regular and reliable work
  • Opportunities across a range of year groups and settings
  • Schools that respect and value support staff
  • Clear communication and proper role information before placements
  • A consultant who takes the time to understand what you're looking for

Whether you want full-time consistency or flexible supply around other commitments, your preferences are taken seriously.

Who this role is ideal for
  • Experienced Teaching Assistants (school-based experience essential)
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualified TAs, or equivalent experience
  • Confident, calm and adaptable individuals
  • Those with experience supporting SEN, 1:1 pupils or small groups
  • Teaching Assistants who want regular work in Barnsley primary schools
Thinking about supply?

If you're considering supply for the first time, returning to education, or simply looking for a better level of support from an agency, I'm always happy to have an open and honest conversation about what's available and what would genuinely suit you.

No pressure. No unrealistic promises. Just clear communication and proper support.
