Plater / Structural Steel Fabricator – Dayshift

Pay: £18.06 per hour

Overtime: £27.09 per hour (time and a half)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm

Job Description

TK Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Plater / Structural Steel Fabricator for a well-established structural steel manufacturing company based in Brompton-on-Swale, near Richmond.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Plater with a strong background in heavy structural steel fabrication to join a busy, well-equipped engineering workshop.

The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating and assembling heavy structural steel components, working from detailed engineering drawings to ensure accurate production.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.

*

Mark out, prepare, fit and assemble structural steel components.

*

Work with heavy steel plates ranging from 5mm to 100mm thick.

*

Fabricate beams, columns and structural steel assemblies.

*

Carry out accurate measuring, cutting, grinding and preparation.

*

Perform heat straightening where required.

*

Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely.

*

Ensure all fabricated components meet dimensional and quality standards.

*

Maintain a safe and organised working environment.

Requirements

*

Proven experience as a Plater or Structural Steel Fabricator.

*

Previous experience working with heavy structural steel is essential.

*

Ability to read and work independently from engineering drawings.

*

Experience fabricating beams, columns and heavy steel assemblies.

*

Confident using fabrication tools and workshop equipment.

*

Experience with overhead cranes and safe lifting practices.

*

NVQ, City & Guilds or time-served experience preferred.

*

Must be willing to complete a practical plating trade test.

Working Hours and Pay

*

Monday to Friday: 6:00am – 2:30pm

*

Basic rate: £18.06 per hour

*

Overtime: £27.09 per hour

*

Saturday overtime opportunities may be available.
