Senior Traffic Engineer – Urban Realm, Highways & TrafficLondon | Hybrid | 3 Days in OfficeThe OpportunityA leading global multidisciplinary consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to join its growing Place & Movement team in London or Guildford.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Traffic, Highways or Transport Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, with responsibility for leading technical work, managing projects and developing junior engineers.You'll work alongside transport planners, civil engineers, urban designers and other multidisciplinary specialists, delivering a varied portfolio of projects across London, the South East and beyond.The ProjectsYou'll have the opportunity to work on a broad range of transport and highway schemes, including:Urban realm and public realm improvementsActive travel and cycling infrastructureHighway and junction improvementsBus priority schemesSection 278 worksRoad safety schemes and 20mph zonesParking and streetscape projectsTransport-related development projectsKey ResponsibilitiesLeading the delivery of traffic and highway engineering projects from concept through to detailed design and constructionTaking technical ownership of project deliverables, including drawings, reports and design documentationPreparing and reviewing highway and traffic engineering designs in accordance with UK standardsManaging project tasks, programmes, budgets and technical risksLiaising directly with clients, contractors, local authorities and other stakeholdersCoordinating design work with civil engineering, structures, lighting, landscape, utilities and other disciplinesUndertaking and reviewing traffic, transport and infrastructure assessmentsSupporting site inspections, surveys and construction monitoringReviewing the technical work of junior and intermediate engineersProviding technical guidance, mentoring and support to developing members of the teamContributing to fee proposals, bids and wider business developmentIdentifying opportunities to develop client relationships and support future project workAbout YouWe're looking for an established Senior Traffic / Highways Engineer with strong technical experience and the confidence to take ownership of projects and client relationships.You'll ideally have:Significant experience in traffic, highways or transport engineeringA degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related disciplineStrong technical knowledge of urban traffic and highway engineeringProven experience delivering projects through design stagesExperience working to UK highway design standards and guidanceStrong experience with AutoCADGood understanding of highway construction methods, materials and specificationsExperience managing technical deliverables and project prioritiesStrong client and stakeholder management skillsExperience mentoring or overseeing junior engineersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with Civil 3D, OpenRoads, TfL standards, Bills of Quantities, site supervision or construction monitoring would be advantageous.Professional accreditation or working towards ICE/CIHT would also be beneficial.Why Join?You'll be joining an established Place & Movement team within a global multidisciplinary consultancy, giving you access to specialists across transport planning, civil engineering, urban design and other technical disciplines.The role provides genuine scope to develop beyond purely technical delivery, with opportunities to take greater responsibility for projects, clients and team development.You'll work on high-profile schemes across London and the South East, while being supported by experienced technical leaders and a wider global network of professionals.What's On Offer?London or Guildford locationHybrid working – 3 days per week in the officeCompetitive salary and benefits packageProfessional development and accreditation supportAccess to experienced technical specialists and mentorsComplex, multidisciplinary project exposureOpportunities for project and technical leadershipStrong career development opportunitiesCollaborative and inclusive working environmentIf you're an experienced Traffic or Highways Engineer ready to take greater ownership of projects, clients and technical delivery, this is an opportunity to develop your career within a major multidisciplinary consultancy.Apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
