About the role
CNC Milling Section Supervisor
Opportunity for a hands-on CNC Milling Section Supervisor to lead a machining cell in this fast expanding precision engineering business. You'll work closely with the machine shop Manager and senior programmers, oversee shift performance, and support the development of apprentices and trainees-while still being willing and able to step onto machines when required.
Key Responsibilities
Build working knowledge of all CNC section machines, including different material machining methods, setups and best practice on runners/repeaters.
Provide day-to-day leadership to the CNC milling section, ensuring production hours, output and priorities are achieved.
Support and deliver in-house training for part setting and machining.
Develop apprentices/trainees: identify training needs, create schedules/programmes, and coach in best practice.
Support machining on HAAS mills and other equipment: prove-outs, running parts, and assisting with ongoing capability growth.
Work with programmers/CNC Manager to identify subcontract parts that can be brought back in-house (and future machine needs).
Manage staffing/holiday planning across early/late shifts to maintain production coverage.
Run machines as required to cover holidays, sickness and urgent customer demand.
Help implement and improve inspection/quality initiatives in conjunction with programming and CNC leadership.
Create/maintain setup sheets, tooling lists and supporting documentation when required.
Attend meetings as required.Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on CNC milling background (setting/machining; programming understanding beneficial).
Experience machining metals and composites and/or willingness to learn (training provided).
Experience supervising or leading a team (or ready to step up into a leadership role).
Confident communicator with the ability to lead, coach and support peers/subordinates.
Good working knowledge of quality/inspection expectations in a precision manufacturing environment.
Organised, proactive, and able to balance production delivery with people development.
