Quantity Surveyor – Power Generation

The Company:
Our client is at the forefront of delivering innovative power generation infrastructure, including large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), reciprocating engine plants, and co-located solar assets. Key Responsibilities:
- Support project delivery by taking ownership from the development team through to construction and operational handover.
- Manage and administer contracts (with a strong focus on NEC forms) ensuring compliance and commercial control.
- Oversee risk and value management processes, maintaining risk and Early Warning Registers.
- Lead procurement activities including preparation of enquiry documentation, scope reviews, contractor selection, and contract negotiations.
- Manage contractor accounts, assess applications for payment, and issue payment notices in line with contract requirements.
- Proactively manage change control processes, including evaluation of variations (cost and time) and risk mitigation.
- Challenge and review disallowed costs to protect project margins.
- Maintain internal cost plans, track earned value, and report financial performance to senior leadership.
- Provide commercial advice and support to site teams.
- Drive subcontractor performance while maintaining quality and strong working relationships.
- Operate autonomously while contributing to a high-performance project delivery team.
Experience & Qualifications:
- 2–5 years’ post-graduation experience in Quantity Surveying.
- Strong experience working with NEC suite of contracts.
- Background in power generation, transmission & distribution, or broader M&E projects (preferred).
- Experience within a main/principal contractor environment (desirable).
- Exposure to projects valued at £10m+ (desirable).
- Proven experience in change management, cost control, and contractor management.
- Strong commercial awareness with a focus on profit maximisation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities.
