About the Role

A well-established and growing wind turbine service and maintenance business is looking to strengthen its field team across North East Scotland with the addition of two experienced Wind Turbine Technicians. The scope of work is broad and varied, covering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, fault finding, refurbishment, repowering and decommissioning projects across a predominantly Vestas portfolio.

The two technicians will work as a pair, with the company vehicle taken home and sites tackled in clusters across the region. Expect a couple of nights away per week as standard, working through turbine clusters before moving on. This is a varied, hands-on role with a technically strong team that takes pride in quality workmanship and a strong safety culture.

Candidates with offshore wind experience looking to make the move onshore are very welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled servicing, maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repair across a range of wind turbines and their electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Follow weekly, monthly and annual service schedules as directed by the operations manager, including approved overtime and working away from home as required
  • Replace faulty components including sensors, control systems and gearboxes in line with established procedures and safety protocols

  • Monitor and analyse turbine performance data to identify trends and practical solutions
  • Manage vehicle stock levels and maintain an up to date inventory of parts, tools and consumables
  • Produce accurate work, service and inspection reports using the company reporting systems
  • Support decommissioning and repowering projects as required
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with current health and safety guidance, site rules and regulations

Essential Requirements

  • Proven hands-on wind turbine technician experience, ideally on Vestas platforms including 3MW turbines
  • A relevant technical qualification in electrical, mechanical or renewable energy engineering
  • Ability to pass a RUK wind industry standard medical assessment
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working at height and in varying weather conditions
  • Willing to stay away from home a couple of nights per week
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable reporting to managers and clients
