Project Quantity Surveyor – Residential Groundworks / Civil Engineering
Location: Cheltenham (Project-Based)
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent (PAYE or LTD)
Salary: Up to £75,000 (DOE) + Company Benefits / LTD Rate Available
About the Company
Our client is a well-established residential groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure and groundwork packages for leading housebuilders across the South West and Midlands. With a strong reputation for quality, safety, and technical delivery, they specialise in complex infrastructure and civil engineering works on large-scale residential developments.
Due to a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now seeking an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to support a key project in Cheltenham.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven Project Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background to take ownership of the commercial aspects of a residential groundworks scheme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all financial and contractual elements of the project, ensuring cost control, profitability, and compliance from procurement through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
* Full commercial management of a residential groundworks and infrastructure project
* Prepare and manage budgets, cost plans, and detailed forecasts
* Measure and value civil engineering works including drainage, roads, and infrastructure
* Manage subcontract procurement, packages, and accounts
* Prepare and agree interim valuations, variations, and final accounts
* Monitor cash flow, cost reporting, and CVRs
* Work closely with site and operational teams to ensure efficient delivery
* Identify and drive value engineering opportunities across the project
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Project Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering and/or residential groundworks
* Strong technical understanding of infrastructure works (roads, drainage, S38/S278/S104)
* Experience managing projects independently from a commercial perspective
* Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/NEC experience beneficial)
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
* Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
