About the role
I'm working with a well-respected civil engineering contractor known for delivering complex groundworks, concrete, and structural projects across London and the South East. They're looking for a strong Senior Quantity Surveyor - someone with solid experience, ideally coming from another major civils contractor, who's ready to take real commercial ownership of key schemes.
Are you the right applicant for this opportunity Find out by reading through the role overview below.
You'll be involved in some technically challenging projects - so they're after someone who genuinely understands construction methodology, plant, and materials , and can spot change early by getting into the detail of drawings and specifications.
If you're confident pricing variations from first principles , have a good grounding in NEC contracts (Option A/C experience is a bonus), and know how to work with planners on programme impacts (Clause 62), this role will suit you perfectly.
What you'll be doing:
Managing the commercial performance of groundworks, concrete, and structural packages
Pricing and justifying variations from first principles
Reviewing drawings and specs to identify and value change
Working with planners to assess programme impacts and agree entitlements
Producing cost reports, forecasts, and valuations
Building strong relationships with delivery teams, clients, and subcontractors
What they're looking for:
Solid SQS background - ideally from a civils, RC frame, or groundworks contractor
Strong technical understanding of construction processes and materials
Confident handling NEC contracts (experience preferred, not essential)
Comfortable managing large volumes of data and project information
Detail-oriented, commercially sharp, and proactive in challenging delivery teams
This is a great opportunity for a capable Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants to step into a key role within a growing civils business, taking ownership of complex, high-value projects across London.
