Managing Quantity Surveyor

Fawkes & Reece are recruiting for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor on behalf of one of our key clients, a well-established and reputable contractor with a strong presence across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute professional with a proven background in Tier 1 construction environments to take on a senior leadership role within a growing regional team. The Role As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take overall commercial responsibility for two major projects in South Wales, with values of approximately £100m and £30m. You will lead and support a team of Senior Quantity Surveyors on each site, ensuring strong commercial performance, effective cost control, and contractual compliance across both schemes. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the commercial management of multiple large-scale construction projects • Lead, mentor, and manage Senior Quantity Surveyors and wider commercial teams • Ensure accurate financial reporting, forecasting, and cost control • Protect and enhance the company’s commercial position across all contracts • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and final accounts • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners • Contribute to strategic commercial decisions at a regional level Requirements • Proven experience working for Tier 1 or major main contractors • Strong background in general construction (not solely housebuilding) • Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, high-value projects • Previous experience in a leadership or managing QS role • Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge • Strong leadership and communication skills What’s on Offer • Competitive salary of £70,000 – £80,000 • Company car or car allowance • Opportunity to work on high-profile, complex projects • Clear career progression within a leading contractor To apply please send an up to date CV to Hazel Baron through the website
