Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant

Role Overview
A welcoming infant school and nursery is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide individual support to a pupil with additional needs within the school setting.
This role is ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and able to provide consistent, nurturing support tailored to the needs of an individual child. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff and support professionals to promote the pupil’s learning, emotional wellbeing, and inclusion throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with identified additional needs, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), who may experience anxiety
- Support engagement in learning activities by adapting approaches and resources as required
- Promote emotional regulation, confidence, and positive behaviour through calm and consistent support
- Assist with transitions between activities and environments, both indoors and outdoors
- Support inclusion during playtimes, structured activities, and wider school experiences
- Implement strategies outlined in individual support plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals
- Contribute to observations, record keeping, and review meetings
- Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and confidentiality policies at all times
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- Understanding of ADHD, autism, and anxiety in young xwzovoh children, or a willingness to develop this knowledge
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Physically active and mobile, able to support an energetic pupil throughout the school day
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing
Desirable:
- Previous experience providing 1:1 or SEN support
- Relevant qualifications or training in childcare, education, or special educational needs
- Experience supporting emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
