SEMH Learning Support Assistant - Behaviour & Pastoral Focus
Salary: £85 - £105 per day Location: Gloucester Full-time: 8:30am - 4:00pm Start Date: ASAP
Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs) in a secondary setting? Do you have a calm, resilient approach and confidence supporting students with challenging behaviour, trauma backgrounds, and emotional dysregulation?
Academics are recruiting for an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Gloucester. This SEMH Learning Support Assistant role in Gloucester will involve supporting students across KS3 and KS4 who may have experienced mainstream exclusion, anxiety, or behavioural barriers to learning.

The Role - SEMH Learning Support Assistant - Behaviour & Pastoral Focus
As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant in Gloucester, you will:
- Support students with SEMH, behavioural needs, and trauma-related challenges
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Use de-escalation techniques and restorative practice approaches
- Provide 1:1 and small group interventions focused on behaviour and wellbeing
- Work alongside teaching and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support plans
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and self-confidence

- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
