Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The Opportunity We are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor / Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established regional residential developer delivering high-quality housing schemes across Bath, Wiltshire, and the surrounding areas. The Role This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full commercial lifecycle of residential developments, supporting senior commercial staff on live housing projects. You will be involved in everything from procurement through to final accounts, making this an ideal position for someone looking to build a long-term career in quantity surveying. The company is open to candidates from both housebuilding and main contracting backgrounds, including those currently studying or recently qualified. Key Responsibilities Assisting with the commercial management of residential developments Supporting procurement of subcontractors and preparation of packages Assisting with valuations, variations, and cost reporting Monitoring project costs and budgets Supporting subcontractor payments and account management Liaising with site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation Supporting month-end reporting and forecasting Requirements Experience or interest in Quantity Surveying within construction Open to Assistant QS, Trainee QS, or graduates / students Background in housebuilding or main contracting advantageous Good numerical and analytical skills Strong communication and organisational abilities Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial role Desirable: Experience with COINS software Relevant qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or currently studying What’s on Offer Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home) Annual bonus scheme (company & personal KPI related) Strong career progression and development opportunities Immediate opportunity available Long-term work across Bath and Wiltshire projects
