Associate Mechanical Engineer
Salary: Circa £85,000 DOE | London
A well-established multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint an Associate Mechanical Engineer to support the continued growth of its Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer seeking a leadership position within a respected consultancy that delivers projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare, heritage, and public sectors.
The role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects, lead client relationships, mentor engineers, and play a key part in the strategic development of the mechanical engineering team.
The Role
As an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex building services projects while supporting the growth and development of both clients and colleagues. You will work closely with senior leadership and have a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of the business.
This position would suit a Senior Mechanical Engineer ready for the next step, or an existing Associate looking for greater responsibility and career progression.
Typical Projects
Large residential and mixed-use developments
Commercial office new builds and refurbishments
Education projects across schools and universities
Healthcare facilities and public sector schemes
Heritage and listed building refurbishments
Leisure, community, and civic buildings Responsibilities
Lead the mechanical design and delivery of multiple projects
Manage client relationships and act as a key point of contact
Oversee project programmes, resources, and technical delivery
Review and sign off engineering designs and reports
Mentor and develop junior and senior engineers
Support business development and fee proposal activities
Collaborate with directors and senior stakeholders on team growth strategies Requirements
Strong UK consultancy experience within Building Services Engineering
Proven experience leading mechanical design projects
Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
Commercial awareness and project management capability
Experience managing and mentoring engineering teams
Chartered status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous Whats On Offer?
