About the CompanyThe company operates within the civil engineering and construction sector, delivering large-scale and complex infrastructure projects.The Estimator sits within the work winning function and works closely with bid management, planning, procurement, technical, HSQE and operational teams to develop accurate and competitive tender pricing.2. About the RoleThe Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate pricing for tenders, as well as supporting clients with pricing during early contractor involvement projects.You will work across the full estimating process, from reviewing quantities and developing labour, plant and material rates through to subcontractor pricing, risk, final settlement and tender submission.The role also involves supporting successful bid handovers and reviewing unsuccessful tenders to identify opportunities for future improvements.3. The key responsibilities for this Estimator role are:Prepare detailed and accurate tender pricingCoordinate with Bid Managers to develop competitive pricesAgree methodologies and outputs with planners and design teamsAdvise on cost-effective design optionsPrice alternative design solutionsReview client bills of quantities and activity schedulesComplete quantity take-offs where requiredDevelop labour and plant ratesCalculate scheme-specific labour rates where requiredCompare material costs and supplier quotationsCoordinate material enquiries with procurementReview and assess subcontractor quotationsPrepare subcontractor comparison sheetsAgree temporary works requirements and costsDevelop staff and preliminaries costsContribute to tender risk and opportunity registersPrepare tender summaries and supporting pricing documentationPresent pricing at settlement meetingsPrepare adjustments following settlementSupport final tender submissionsAddress post-tender client clarifications and amendmentsPrepare pricing handover documentation for successful bidsReview tender feedback from unsuccessful bids4. Experience required for this Estimator role are:Experience working within civil engineering and constructionSound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniquesExperience preparing tender estimates and pricingExperience developing costs for labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and preliminariesCommercial awareness of different forms of contractKnowledge of relevant procurement legislationExperience using estimating software packagesAbility to work collaboratively with bid, planning, procurement, technical and operational teams5.
