Freelance HGV Class 2 (Cat C) Driver – Mobile Training Bus

Location: Gillingham, Kent (ME8) Pay: £250 - £300 per day (up to 10 hours), then £35 per hour Job type: Freelance / temporary, ad hoc days Start: ASAP London Fire Solutions (LFS) is a passive fire protection specialist based in Gillingham, Kent. We make, install and maintain fire doors and fire stopping for housing associations, councils and contractors across London and the South East, and have done for 15 years. Our Passive Fire Bus is a red double-decker we've fitted out as a mobile training room and demonstration space, and it's now ready for the road. We're looking for a reliable Class 2 driver (Cat C) to take it to client offices, industry events and exhibitions around London and the South East. There will be the occasional longer trip. The bus * Red double-decker, converted into a training and demonstration unit * Registered to be driven on a Category C licence, so no PCV licence needed * Alexander Dennis Enviro(Apply online only) * Height 11.5m, length 2.6m,width and 4.3m high plated weight 17.8 tonnes * Automatic gearbox and digital tachograph * Kept at our yard in Gillingham (ME8) What you'll be doing * Driving the bus safely to and from venues, including central London * Daily walkround checks and defect reporting * Working to drivers' hours and tachograph rules * Looking after the vehicle at venues and on overnight trips * Representing LFS on the road. It's a branded vehicle, so how it's driven reflects on us What you'll need * Full UK Category C (Class 2) licence. class 1 drivers are welcome too * Valid Driver CPC card and digital tachograph card * No more than 6 points, and able to meet our insurer's requirements * Confidence driving a large vehicle in central London. Double-decker, bus or coach experience is a bonus * Good route planning and height awareness * Good knowledge of drivers' hours and working time rules * Happy with early starts and the occasional overnight stay * Right to work in the UK What we offer * £250 - £300 a day, with anything over 10 hours paid at £35 an hour * Every booked day paid in full, even if it finishes early or we cancel with less than 48 hours' notice * Full day rate for every day away on overnight trips, plus hotel and meals * Paid within 7 days of each job * No handball or multi-drop, just the driving * Varied work: London landmarks, client offices and industry shows * Regular days as bookings for the bus grow To apply, send your CV with a short note on your large-vehicle experience and your availability over the next few months
