Automotive Workshop Manager Location: Heathrow Airport, London Very Competitive Salary Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Automotive Workshop Manager: About the Role We are seeking an experienced Automotive Workshop Manager to lead our Ground Support Equipment (GSE) maintenance operation at Heathrow Airport. This role is ideally suited to a Workshop Manager with experience in automotive, HGV, commercial vehicle, fleet, plant, or heavy equipment maintenance environments. You will be responsible for managing workshop operations, leading a team of technicians, ensuring fleet availability, and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance. Automotive Workshop Manager Key Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day operation of a busy engineering workshop. Lead, motivate, and develop a team of technicians and engineers. Oversee maintenance, servicing, inspections, and repairs of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and associated vehicles. Ensure maximum fleet availability while minimising downtime. Plan and allocate workshop resources effectively. Monitor workshop performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and industry regulations. Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation. Work closely with operational teams to support business requirements. Promote a positive safety culture and high standards of workmanship throughout the workshop. Automotive Workshop Manager Essential Requirements Proven experience as a Workshop Manager, Fleet Maintenance Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Service Manager, or similar leadership role. Strong background in automotive, commercial vehicle, HGV, plant, fleet, or engineering maintenance environments. Experience managing and developing workshop teams. Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent engineering qualification. Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 penalty points). Automotive Workshop Manager Desirable Skills & Experience Experience working with diesel and electric vehicles. Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and welding. Experience within airport, aviation, logistics, fleet, transport, or heavy equipment operations. Understanding of workshop KPIs, fleet maintenance planning, and asset management.
