About the role

We’re looking for an UnderwriterBased in London and reporting directly to the Joint head of Professional Lines.  The role involves underwriting and development of a diverse global portfolio of professional lines focused on Professional Indemnity.  This role presents an excellent opportunity to develop technical underwriting skills and stakeholder management within a specialist portfolio.What you will doAssess renewal and new business risks and opportunities and apply underwriting guidelines and pricing models to ensure portfolio optimisationRepresent the company in client market presentations, 1-1 client meetings, broker meetings, industry events and conferencesBuild and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients to maximise new business and renewals opportunityCollaborate with the claims and pricing departments to provide a viable product for our clientsManagement and ownership of delegated authorities, undertake binder referrals and collaborate with Delegated Underwriting Authority team including timely data for reporting and underwriting control meetingsSupport junior underwriters through referrals, and technical knowledge guidanceContribute to the development and execution of the Underwriting StrategyLiaise with Finance, Credit Control and Operations to prepare and review data for Lloyd’s and other regulatory returnsWhat you require for the roleProven experience in professional lines underwriting with a strong understanding of technical underwriting and risk assessmentStrong trading and negotiation skills and able to communicate rationale to both brokers and clientsAbility to build, develop, and maintain broker and client relationships and build networkStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Predominantly Excel, but also Outlook, Word and PowerBI)A proactive approach and strong work ethicCustomer-focusedProven ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise efficientlyDrive and ambition to develop and progressWhat you can expect from usAt Hamilton, we offer a vibrant, entrepreneurial and collaborative workplace shaped by our values: Be Smart, Be Sensible, Be Open and Be More.Our employees consistently say they would recommend Hamilton as a great place to work — a testament to the inclusive, supportive, and empowering culture we’ve built together.
