Air Export Coordinator
Location: Ashford (London Heathrow)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Air Export Coordinator to join their busy freight forwarding team based in Ashford, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with air export experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and delivering outstanding customer service.
You will be responsible for managing air export shipments from booking through to final departure, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and shipments move in accordance with customer requirements and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate air export shipments from booking through to departure.
Liaise with airlines, handling agents, hauliers, overseas offices and customers.
Arrange collections and monitor shipments to ensure deadlines are met.
Prepare and process all export documentation, including Air Waybills (AWBs), customs documentation and commercial paperwork.
Ensure all customs requirements are completed accurately and within required timescales.
Obtain freight rates and provide quotations to customers when required.
Track shipments and proactively communicate updates to customers.
Resolve shipment delays or operational issues efficiently.
Maintain accurate shipment records and update internal freight forwarding systems.
Invoice files accurately and ensure all costs are captured.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas agents.
Ensure compliance with aviation security regulations and company procedures.
Support the wider operations team during busy periods.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience working within Air Export Freight Forwarding is essential.
Experience with a UK based freight forwarder.
Good understanding of air export documentation and customs procedures.
Experience using freight forwarding software (CargoWise experience would be advantageous but not essential).
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to prioritise multiple shipments in a busy operational environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Confident working independently and as part of a team.
