Are you an MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor seeking a varied role where you can manage your own work, strengthen client relationships and gain exposure across a wider range of services?
I’m keen to speak with experienced Senior Building Surveyors regarding a commercial building consultancy opportunity based in Bristol.
The position offers a broad mix of professional and project services. It is a hands-on, client-facing role with the autonomy to oversee instructions from the first client brief through to completion.
What the role will involve
• Condition surveys and pre-acquisition advice
• Technical due diligence and defect investigations
• Dilapidations and schedules of condition
• Repair, refurbishment and maintenance projects
• Preparing specifications and schedules of work
• Tendering, procurement and contract administration
• Employer’s Agent and wider project delivery duties
• Party Wall, CDM and Building Regulations matters
• Advising clients and managing key stakeholders
• Preparing fee proposals and developing repeat business
• Mentoring and supporting less experienced surveyors
What we need
• MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor status
• Current experience within commercial building consultancy
• Strong professional services knowledge, including surveys, TDD, dilapidations and defect diagnosis
• Project experience covering specifications, tendering, procurement and contract administration
• Confidence dealing directly with clients and contractors
• Strong technical writing skills and sound commercial judgement
• The ability to manage multiple instructions independently
Relevant sector experience may include offices, industrial/logistics, retail, mixed-use, education, healthcare or student accommodation.
Preferred backgrounds
Surveyors from small or mid-sized commercial consultancies are particularly relevant, especially where they have taken genuine responsibility for their own instructions.
Candidates from larger consultancies are also welcome, provided they can show broad, practical experience rather than working solely within one specialist service line.
Why consider this role?
This opportunity offers:
• A broad and varied building surveying remit
• Greater ownership of client instructions
• Regular contact with senior decision-makers
• A balance of professional and project work
• Opportunities to mentor and support others
• More visibility over client relationships and career development
• Hybrid working based around the Bristol office and client sites
You must be able to travel practically to the Bristol office and client locations. The working arrangement is 60% office or client site and 40% home. xwzovoh A valid UK driving licence is required.
If you’re MRICS and would like to combine technical surveying, project delivery and direct client ownership, I’d be pleased to hear from you.
