HGV Driver / Yard Operative

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a reputable franchise-approved commercial vehicle dealership in Avonmouth, Bristol, for the position of HGV Driver/Yard Operative. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced HGV Driver / Yard Operatives seeking to work within a leading automotive environment. The successful HGV Driver / Yard Operative will be responsible for a range of operational and logistical duties, supporting the dealership’s service and yard functions. Benefits: Starting salary approximately £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience 22 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays Access to manufacturer-accredited training and development programmes Company pension scheme Private healthcare benefits Opportunity to work with a well-established industry-leading commercial vehicle brand 40-hour week, Monday to FridayDuties as a HGV Driver / Yard Operative will include: Safely operating commercial vehicles, including collection and delivery of customer vehicles across multiple sites Presenting vehicles for MOT testing Conducting road tests on vehicles following repairs and reporting findings Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle checks and reporting mechanical issues Ensuring vehicles are parked safely and in designated areas at all times Loading and unloading vehicles with care, ensuring items are securely fastened during transit Assisting with workshop operations and maintaining a tidy, safe workplace and yard space General yard housekeeping, maintaining a safe working environment Maintaining internal and external building and yard areas Covering other locations within the region as required, demonstrating flexibility across sitesRequirements: Class 1 HGV driving licence with minimal points Previous experience in vehicle collection/delivery driver or in a similar workshop/yard operative role is advantageous, but not essential, as training will be provided Logistically minded with good organisational skills A team player with a professional appearance Well-organised, punctual, and capable of effective planning Sound knowledge of the South West region and regional logistics is desirableThis is an excellent opportunity for a motivated HGV Driver/Yard Operative to join a thriving business with career progression prospects.
