Solar Technician

Job Title: Solar Technician Location: Site-based (UK-wide travel may be required) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent   Overview We are supporting our client in the recruitment of a Solar Technician to join their growing renewable energy team. This role will focus on the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across commercial and industrial projects.   The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of solar assets, contributing to energy generation performance and long-term system reliability. This position is well suited to a qualified electrician looking to develop within the renewable energy sector or an experienced Solar Technician seeking to further their career. Key Responsibilities Install solar PV systems, including panels, mounting systems, inverters, and associated electrical components Carry out inspection, testing, and commissioning of solar installations Perform routine maintenance and fault finding on existing PV systems Diagnose and resolve electrical and performance-related issues across DC and AC systems Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with current electrical regulations and health and safety standards Complete site reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and site teams Travel to various sites as required Requirements NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent) 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) Minimum 2 years' post-qualification experience Experience within commercial or industrial electrical environments Full UK driving licence Strong understanding of electrical systems and safe working practices Desirable Skills & Qualifications Experience working with solar PV systems City & Guilds 2391 - Inspection and Testing ECS Gold Card Solar PV qualifications (e.g. BPEC or equivalent) Experience working at height and in outdoor environments SSSTS or other site safety certifications Skills and Competencies Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications High attention to detail and commitment to quality Strong understanding of health and safety requirements Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and reporting skills What's on Offer Competitive salary and benefits package Company vehicle and tools provided Pension contributions 28 days holiday including bank holidays Opportunity to work within a growing renewable energy sector Ongoing training and development Working Hours Monday to Friday Flexibility required to meet project and site demands Apply If you are a qualified electrician or experienced Solar Technician looking to develop your career within renewable energy, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss this position further
