CAD Engineer Joinery

Job Title: CAD Engineer (Setter Out/ Joinery) Location: Birmingham Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 Hours: Full-time, 44 hours per week (Monday–Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm | Friday: 7:30am – 4:00pm) Our client is a well-established and highly respected specialist manufacturer based in Birmingham, with a long-standing reputation for delivering bespoke, high-quality installations. They work across a range of materials including hardwood joinery, architectural metalwork, and specialist metal fabrications such as bronze and stainless steel doors and frames. With a history spanning over a century, they pride themselves on craftsmanship and working with prestigious clients on unique projects. About the Role This is an excellent opportunity to join a skilled and collaborative team of Draughtspersons / Setter Outs. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to interpret architectural drawings and 3D visuals, producing accurate technical drawings using AutoCAD and/or Inventor. You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle—from initial concept through to manufacturing—ensuring all approved drawings are prepared and issued to the shop floor for production. Key Responsibilities Interpret architectural drawings and 3D visuals Produce detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings Work closely with internal teams to ensure design feasibility Prepare and release drawings for manufacturing Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously Essential Requirements Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role Experience designing for manufacture Knowledge of joinery  Strong understanding of manufacturing processes Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings Desirable Skills Experience using AutoCAD and/or Inventor Previous hands-on experience in joinery Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks Positive and proactive attitude Benefits Free on-site parking Pension scheme Life insurance 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (Please note: 7 days are to be taken over the Christmas & New Year period)
