Mechanical Manager - NHS Trust, Client Side (Essex) Hi I am recruiting for a Mechanical Manager to join the Estates team at an NHS Trust in Essex on a contract basis. Contract Details: * Location: Essex, on site * Rate: £215 per day, Outside IR35 * Contract: 6 months * Working pattern: Full time, on site The role * Reporting into the Estates leadership team, you will lead the mechanical maintenance service across the hospital estate, taking day-to-day responsibility for all mechanical systems and keeping the estate safe, compliant and operational. You'll manage a team of in-house mechanical staff alongside specialist contractors, driving statutory compliance, planned and reactive maintenance, and the mechanical elements of minor works, in a busy acute healthcare environment. Key responsibilities * Lead the mechanical maintenance function across the estate, managing in-house mechanical teams and specialist contractors * Ensure statutory and mandatory compliance across mechanical systems, including heating, ventilation, steam, LTHW/HWS, medical gas, water hygiene and pressure systems, in line with HTMs and NHS guidance * Deliver and manage PPM and reactive maintenance through the CAFM system, prioritising works to minimise downtime * Hold or support Authorised Person duties across relevant mechanical disciplines and manage the AP/CP structure * Maintain safe systems of work, RAMS and permit-to-work for all mechanical works and contractor control * Oversee the mechanical elements of minor works and capital schemes, liaising with project teams and consultants * Support budget management for the mechanical function and procurement of specialist maintenance contracts * Maintain asset registers and compliance records, and support audits and statutory returns What we're looking for * Time-served mechanical engineering background, with an ONC/HNC or equivalent in mechanical or building services engineering * Proven experience managing mechanical maintenance within a healthcare/NHS estate or a comparably complex environment * Strong knowledge of HTMs and statutory compliance across mechanical systems (steam, ventilation, medical gas, water, pressure systems) * Authorised Person status, or eligibility to hold it, in one or more mechanical disciplines * Experience managing teams and contractors under safe systems of work and permit-to-work Best Regards
