SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Newcastle & Northumberland Pay: £100 - £115 per day (PAYE) Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full Time & Part Time | Long-Term Opportunities SEND Teaching Assistant – September Opportunities PK Education are working in partnership with a number of specialist SEND schools and alternative provisions across Newcastle and the surrounding areas, who are looking to recruit dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistants for long-term roles starting in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs while gaining valuable experience in supportive and rewarding educational settings. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in helping students achieve both academically and personally. You will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with teachers and other professionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You may be supporting pupils with: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) Complex Learning Difficulties Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs ADHD Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties Sensory and Physical Needs Your Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support Assist with personalised learning programmes Support communication, social interaction and emotional development Promote confidence, independence and positive behaviour Implement behaviour support strategies where required Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and wider support teams Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment We Are Looking For Candidates Who: Have experience supporting children or young people with SEND in schools, care settings, youth work or similar environments Are patient, caring, resilient and adaptable Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills Are passionate about helping young people reach their full potential Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Why Choose PK Education?
