Youth Worker - SEN & ASC Specialist

Location: Leyland, Lancashire (PR25 / PR26)

Salary: £98.89 - £125.89 per day (Weekly Pay)

Hours: 08:30 - 15:30, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Contract: Temp to Perm

Start Date: ASAP (June 2026)

The Role

Are you a passionate Youth Worker looking to transition into a specialist educational setting? We are seeking a dedicated individual to support pupils within a highly regarded SEMH and ASC School in Leyland.

This role is perfect for those with a background in community youth work, sports coaching, or residential care who want to make a long-term impact. You will work in a small classroom setting with a maximum of 5 pupils, focusing on those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).

Your Responsibilities

  • Engagement & Mentoring: Act as a role model, focusing on emotional regulation rather than traditional academic instruction.
  • Small Group Support: Work within a tight-knit group of 5 pupils, helping them navigate social interactions and manage anxieties.
  • De-escalation: Use calm, trauma-informed techniques to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • 1:1 Support: Lead breakout sessions to help pupils build resilience and life skills.

Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience as a Youth Worker, Support Worker, or SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • Specialism: A strong understanding of ASC and SEMH is essential.
  • Availability: Must be able to commit to 08:30 - 15:30, Monday to Friday.
  • Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is required (or a willingness to apply for one immediately).

Why Join This Leyland School?

This school offers a non-standard educational environment where the focus is on the "whole child." By capping classes at 5 pupils, you avoid the burnout of large settings and can focus on relationship-based support. This temp-to-perm route offers excellent job security and access to specialised training in Team Teach and Trauma-Informed Practice. xwzovoh
