Java Developer

Avanti is working with a long-established UK software business based in Blackburn who is looking for a Software Developer to join its growing development team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Java Developer who enjoys solving technical problems, modernising systems and contributing ideas within a collaborative engineering environment. The company develops specialist software used within manufacturing and industrial environments and is currently going through a major technology modernisation programme. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and evolving existing Java applications while also contributing to future-facing projects involving APIs, integrations and modern development practices. This role would suit someone who enjoys: Working on real-world software products Improving and modernising legacy systems Backend development and APIs Bringing ideas and technical improvements to a team Learning and developing alongside evolving technologies The Role You’ll be involved across the full software development lifecycle, including: * Developing and maintaining Java applications * Supporting migration towards newer Java versions * Enhancing and modernising existing systems * Building REST APIs and integrations * Troubleshooting and debugging software issues * Contributing to testing and code quality improvements * Working closely with support teams and project staff * Helping improve development standards, tooling and processes Tech Stack * Java * Spring / Spring Boot * Hibernate * MySQL * REST APIs * Git Exposure to the following would be beneficial: * Jenkins * CI/CD * Docker * Flutter / Dart * C# * API integrations * Agile methodologies What They’re Looking For * Commercial Java development experience * Strong problem-solving skills * Good communication skills * Database experience * Someone inquisitive and eager to learn * A developer who enjoys improving systems and processes Salary & Benefits Up to £45,000 salary (Possible flex to £50,000) Pension Life insurance Long-term stable business Opportunity to influence technical improvements Location – Blackburn (On-site) Working hours – 08:30am – 5:00pm If you’re a Java Developer looking for a role where you can genuinely influence systems, contribute ideas and grow within a collaborative environment, apply now
