Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freelance QA/QC Engineer with a strong electrical bias to join the delivery team on a major commercial development in Farringdon, London.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical installation works are delivered, inspected, tested and documented in accordance with the project specifications, approved drawings, inspection and test plans (ITPs), statutory requirements and relevant British Standards.
The role will be site-based and will work closely with the project management, MEP, construction, commissioning and subcontractor teams to maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure that the project is delivered with a complete and compliant quality record.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and monitor the quality of electrical installation works across the project.
* Undertake regular inspections of electrical installations and associated works to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
* Review and implement electrical Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Inspection & Test Records (ITRs) and associated quality documentation.
* Carry out inspections at key installation stages, including first-fix, containment, cabling, second-fix, equipment installation, termination, testing and final completion.
* Ensure installations are completed in accordance with approved construction information, manufacturers' requirements and applicable standards.
* Identify defects, non-conformances and workmanship issues and ensure these are appropriately recorded, rectified and closed out.
* Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required.
* Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure corrective actions are implemented within agreed timescales.
* Verify that inspection and testing is completed progressively and that records are maintained accurately.
Testing & Commissioning
* Review electrical testing and commissioning procedures and documentation.
* Witness electrical testing where required, including LV distribution, containment, cabling, earthing/bonding and associated systems.
* Review test certificates, commissioning records and supporting documentation for completeness and compliance.
* Coordinate with the commissioning team to ensure systems are ready for testing and commissioning in accordance with the project programme.
* Assist with the identification and resolution of testing and commissioning issues.
* Ensure outstanding quality and commissioning issues are tracked through to completion
