SEN Learning Mentor - Secondary SchoolLocation: Wolverhampton Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceAre you passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs?A large and inclusive secondary school in Wolverhampton is looking to appoint dedicated SEN Learning Mentors to provide 1:1 support for students with additional needs within a mainstream setting.The school has a strong reputation for inclusion and works hard to ensure that every student has the support they need to thrive both academically and socially. You will be working closely with students who have a range of needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is patient, nurturing, and passionate about helping young people reach their full potential.The RoleAs an SEN Learning Mentor, you will work on a 1:1 basis with identified students, helping them to access learning, remain engaged in lessons, develop independence, and build confidence throughout the school day.You will act as a positive role model, providing consistent support both inside and outside of the classroom while helping students overcome barriers to learning and participation.Key Responsibilities
Providing dedicated 1:1 support for students with SEN
Supporting students in lessons across a range of subjects
Adapting support strategies to meet individual learning needs
Promoting independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
Assisting students with organisation, communication, and social interaction
Supporting students during transitions, breaktimes, and unstructured parts of the school day
Working closely with teachers, the SEND team, and pastoral staff
Monitoring progress and reporting any concerns appropriately
Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement with learningThe Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting children or young people with SEN
A background in education, youth work, care, support work, coaching, or mentoring
Knowledge of autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs would be beneficial
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A calm, patient, and resilient approach
Ability to build trust and support students who may struggle within a mainstream environmentIdeal for:
