About the Role
As a Class 1 Shunter, you will:
Shunt, load, and unload trailers within the depot, ensuring all units are safely and correctly positioned in designated delivery bays and yard areas.
Support general yard operations as required to maintain a safe, efficient, and well organised site.
Carry out comprehensive daily vehicle safety inspections using the company issued mobile device, ensuring full compliance with safety standards and optimal vehicle reliability.
Liaise closely with the transport office and transport team, providing timely updates on trailer status, safety checks, load conditions, and operational progress to ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
Handle local collections and deliveries as required, ensuring timely and professional service.
Participate in regular training sessions to stay up to date with industry standards, best practices, and company procedures, continuously enhancing skills and expertise.
Receive shunter training in line with company standards to ensure full competency, compliance, and safe operation at all times.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Must hold a UK Class 1 CE Licence.
Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
Experience using a tug is desirable, though not essential, as full training will be provided.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Ability to work effectively to deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Confident, courteous, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Good geographical knowledge and route awareness.
Physically fit, flexible, hardworking, and self-motivated with a positive approach to work.

Competitive Salary : £19.00 per hour, based on 11.25 hours per shift. PLUS for all hours worked between 21:00hrs & 04:00hrs, you will receive an additional £2.75 per hour.
Shift Hours : 16:00hrs - 04:00hrs, 4on 4off.
Overtime : Paid at an hourly rate.
