Maintenance Engineer

Electrical or Mechanical Engineer / Bury St Edmunds / Salary up to £55,000 Job Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time, Panama shift (6am–6pm, days & nights) Overview Position 1 Recruitment is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) to join our client’s team. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and experienced engineer with strong skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing both industrial electrical and mechanical systems. Benefits * Pension (up to 8% matched) * 5% performance bonus after 6 months * Life assurance & income protection * 20 days holiday (pro rata) + additional allowances * Enhanced sick pay * Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Key Responsibilities * Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical production equipment * Diagnose and resolve faults on PLCs, drives, motors, and control systems * Maintain and repair conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and drive systems * Work with inverters, control panels, and industrial wiring systems * Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment * Read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings * Maintain accurate maintenance and fault records * Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives * Ensure all Health & Safety procedures are followed, promoting safe systems of work * Provide flexibility for on-call duties when required Requirements * Qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) * Proven experience in heavy industrial maintenance (multi-skilled preferred) Strong knowledge of: PLC fault finding (basic programming desirable) Inverters and drives Motors and control systems Industrial wiring and control panels Conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics Bearings, gearboxes, and drive systems Ability to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings Good understanding of Health & Safety protocols, including: Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) Safe Isolation Permit to Work systems Working at Height Confined Space awareness ATEX/DSEAR (desirable)
