Job Title: School Caretaker / Site Assistant Location: Leicester Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 per annum (dependent on experience) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 Job Description We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Site Assistant to join a welcoming and well-maintained school in Leicester from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure, and positive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring that buildings, grounds, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and are fit for purpose. Key Responsibilities Assist with the opening and closing of the school premises Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and general handyman duties Ensure the school site is clean, safe, secure, and well-presented at all times Conduct regular health and safety checks and report any concerns Support with site security, including monitoring access and responding to alarms when required Prepare rooms and facilities for school events, meetings, and examinations Liaise with contractors and external service providers as directed Assist with grounds maintenance, including litter picking and ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and tidy Support the Site Manager with statutory compliance checks and record keeping Requirements Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support role is desirable Practical maintenance and DIY skills Good understanding of health and safety practices Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organisational skills and attention to detail Flexible and proactive approach to work Good communication skills and a professional manner Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people About Clarence Recruitment We are highly experienced recruitment specialists operating in the Education Sector.
