Primary SEN Teaching Assistant - Flexible Roles (West Sussex & Surrey)

In this role, you will deliver targeted 1:1 support and small-group guidance for pupils with additional learning needs, driving real progress in their academic confidence, emotional resilience, and classroom independence every day.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored, individual assistance to pupils with special educational needs to keep them engaged with daily lessons.
• Lead focused literacy, numeracy, and social-skills sessions for pupils who require extra support.
• Build a safe, warm, and structured classroom atmosphere where every child feels valued, capable, and supported.
• Modify learning materials, visual aids, and tasks under teacher guidance to match individual learning styles.
• Utilize positive behavior techniques and de-escalation strategies to maintain a productive learning space.
• Work alongside Class Teachers and SENCOs to monitor progress and celebrate personal achievements.
• Scaffold daily tasks to encourage problem-solving and self-reliance.
