ROLE OVERVIEWWe are currently looking for a Head of R&D to join a leading Biotechnology company based Oxfordshire. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a strategic, hands-on leader with a passion for translating scientific research into real-world applications. The role offers the chance to influence product development and technological breakthroughs within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.As the Head of R&D You will be responsible for managing complex technical projects from concept through to delivery while building and leading high-performing teams.KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESYour duties as the Head of R&D will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:Lead and oversee multiple technical and product development programmes, ensuring delivery against scope, timelines, and milestones.Translate high-level business and R&D objectives into clear, structured project plans, dependencies, and resource requirements.Collaborate closely with senior leadership to align scientific strategies with commercial and regulatory goals.Build, manage, and mentor cross-functional R&D teams, fostering accountability and high performance.As the Head of R&D, you will support and contribute to technical decision-making, stage-gate processes, and project documentation.ROLE REQUIREMENTSTo be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Head of R&D we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:A Degree or higher level in Chemistry, Materials Science or a closely related discipline.Proven experience in managing technical projects within a synthetic chemistry / material chemistry environment for the commercialisation of material applications.
