Director, Global Governance and Strategic Engagement
About the role
Director, Global Governance and Strategic Engagement
Oxford Martin Security Futures Lab
Competitive salary, Fixed Term (Full‑time fixed term for 30 months)
The Security Futures Lab, hosted by the Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford, was established to rethink how security is understood and governed in an age of cascading, systemic risk.
We are looking for a Director, Global Governance & Strategic Engagement to join our global leadership team – helping to build a pioneering international platform that bridges frontier research, multilateral institutions and public audiences across five continents.
Help shape how the world responds to systemic risk.
We are seeking an exceptional senior leader to help redefine global debate on security, governance and institutional resilience at a moment of profound international change. In this high‑profile role, you will translate cutting‑edge research into policy action, governance innovation and public engagement.
You will lead engagement with governments, parliaments, multilateral institutions, civil society, media and public audiences, while driving the Lab's international convening programme, including the Oxford Dialogues on Security and Futures.
Working closely with eight institutional partners across five continents, you will play a central role in building a new global platform for security cooperation and in democratising security by making complex ideas accessible, engaging wider publics and enabling broader participation in rethinking national security strategies for the twenty‑first century.
As the senior operational lead within the three‑person leadership team, you will also oversee day‑to‑day management, financial stewardship and administrative coordination across a complex and ambitious international programme.
This is a rare opportunity to help build a globally significant initiative from the ground up – combining intellectual leadership, international engagement and institution‑building at one of the world's leading universities.
The Oxford Martin School supports the University's commitment to equal opportunity, and to being a place where everyone belongs and is supported to succeed. We recognise how the diversity of our community enriches our ability to deliver on our academic mission.
We welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds, including those under‑represented within higher education. No applicant or members of staff shall be unlawfully discriminated against on the basis of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
