Senior/Principal Wastewater Modeller (Urban Drainage)

Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Department: Water. Position Type: Full Time, Flexibly scheduled.

Job Overview

Responsible for delivering advanced hydraulic modelling solutions for urban drainage projects, leading a team of junior modellers, and managing project cost and programme. Projects range from feasibility studies and model building to surface water management plans and development impact assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, build, and verify integrated catchment and hydraulic models using Infoworks ICM.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and training to less experienced colleagues.
  • Lead project delivery tasks, including engagement with client technical teams.
  • Manage modelling teams from a commercial and financial perspective.
  • Develop innovative modelling processes and tools.
  • Ensure delivery meets agreed deliverables, milestones, quality assurance, and control strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with integrated catchment model build and verification, and/or Infoworks ICM solution development.
  • Knowledge of water quality modelling or undertaking UPM studies (advantage).
  • Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS or Mapinfo) and Infoworks ICM hydraulic modelling software.
  • Track record of mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience managing projects and acting as technical discipline lead on urban drainage/sewage projects.
  • Experience in managing modelling teams with commercial and financial responsibilities.
  • Understanding of market and interest in business development (welcome).
  • For the Principal role: chartered with an institute such as ICE or CIWEM, or close to achieving chartered status.
