Job Description Corporate Associate, 1+ PQE, £62,000+, National Firm, Manchester/n /n /n This national firm has built up its Manchester corporate team through lateral hires at both partner and associate level. This role adds another associate to handle the deal flow./n /n /n What stands out is how early you get involved in business development. You'll present at client seminars, write articles and bulletins, attend events with clients and intermediaries, and join the team on tender pitches. At many firms associates only see this once they're close to partnership. Here it is part of the job, so you build your own profile early./n /n /n The work is private equity and strategic trade deals, plus joint ventures and wider M&A, both domestic and cross-border. The team also has a growing practice in the energy sector. You'll draft the SPAs, shareholders' agreements and articles yourself rather than just reviewing them. You'll also run your own matters against agreed deal timetables, with structured training and supervision behind you as you take on bigger deals./n /n /n Clients describe the team in the legal directories as commercial and proactive, and good at explaining complex legal points in plain business terms.
