The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to join our successful English department from September 2026. The successful candidate will deliver inspiring and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a vital role in developing students’ literacy, analytical skills, and appreciation of literature and language. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established department with a strong tradition of academic success and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable) Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that develop reading, writing and analytical skills Foster a love of literature and language in all students Use assessment data effectively to monitor progress and inform planning Provide targeted intervention and feedback to support student achievement Contribute to curriculum planning and resource development within the department Support whole-school literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities The Ideal Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature Ability to teach GCSE English confidently (A-Level experience desirable) A passion for literature, language, and student engagement Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to the ethos and values of a Church of England school A reflective, collaborative and professional approach to teaching What We Offer A supportive and high-performing English department Excellent professional development opportunities A well-structured curriculum with strong resources and shared planning A values-driven school community Motivated students with a strong commitment to learning Opportunities for career development and progression
