The Role
As a Citizenship Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, discussion-rich lessons across KS3 and KS4, developing pupils understanding of democracy, rights, responsibilities, and active civic participation. You will contribute to sixth form enrichment and general studies provision, use assessment to track and drive progress, and build strong relationships with a pupil community that brings genuine passion and perspective to the subject. Maintaining high standards of debate, respect, and intellectual rigour will be central to your practice as a Citizenship Teacher in this school.
What the School is Looking For
This permanent Citizenship Teacher position will suit candidates who:
Hold British QTS or are completing a UK-accredited teacher training programme
Graduated with a 2:1 or above in Citizenship, Politics, Law, Sociology, or a related discipline from a reputable UK university, ideally Russell Group
Have meaningful classroom experience within a UK secondary school setting through placements or a substantive teaching post
Show clear evidence of structured lesson delivery and measurable pupil progress in Citizenship or a related Humanities subject
Are confident facilitating challenging discussions within a consistent whole-school behaviour framework
Are legally entitled to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available
ECT applicants are welcomed provided formal UK teacher training has been completed.
Salary & Contract
Outer London MPS: £37,870 to £50,474, with UPS up to £56,154. TLR opportunities may be available for candidates with relevant Humanities or PSHE leadership experience.
