About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established consultancy supporting one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes.
This role offers the chance to work on the National Grid's major network upgrade programme - a nationally significant investment focused on modernising and strengthening the UK's electricity transmission network. This long-term programme will play a key role in improving energy security, increasing network capacity, and supporting the transition to renewable energy, making it an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a high-profile, career-defining project.
Based from the Manchester office two days per week, you'll work closely with an experienced commercial team, receiving hands-on support and mentoring while developing your quantity surveying career. The role also includes site visits to Birmingham approximately 1-2 times per month, providing valuable exposure to project delivery and the opportunity to build strong relationships with project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting with the commercial management of NEC contracts.
* Supporting cost reporting, forecasting, and financial control.
* Preparing and reviewing applications for payment, valuations, and change management.
* Assisting with subcontract administration and commercial documentation.
* Producing accurate reports and maintaining project records using Microsoft Excel.
* Working collaboratively with project teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
* Attending site visits to gain practical project experience and support project delivery.
About You
* Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveying role.
* Good working knowledge of NEC contracts.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
* Able to work from the Manchester office two days per week and travel to Birmingham for site visits 1-2 times per month.
