As Billings Team Leader you will be responsible for guiding your team through the complexities of high-volume billing operations that span multiple airports and business streams. Your day-to-day activities will involve coaching your team members towards achieving their objectives while maintaining rigorous financial controls. You will act as the go-to expert for any challenging billing issues or disputes that arise-offering solutions that balance commercial needs with customer satisfaction. By producing insightful reports on key performance indicators and analysing management information you will help identify areas for improvement within the billing function.
Key duties include:
Guide, coach, and nurture a team of four billing specialists by setting clear objectives, conducting regular one-to-one meetings, facilitating team discussions, and providing constructive feedback to support their professional development.
Oversee the delivery of approximately £1.3 billion in annual billing across three major airports and twelve distinct business streams, ensuring all transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
Act as the subject matter expert for complex billing issues by offering guidance to your team, resolving escalations promptly, and ensuring contractual requirements are correctly applied.
Ensure monthly billing controls are completed thoroughly, documented appropriately, reviewed according to the finance control framework, and escalate exceptions while driving corrective actions when necessary.
Manage billing disputes effectively by coordinating investigations with customers, commercial teams, finance colleagues, and operational stakeholders to achieve swift resolution.
Produce comprehensive billing KPIs, management information reports, and ad hoc analyses to identify trends, risks, backlogs, and opportunities for process improvement.
Collaborate with transformation teams and process stakeholders to design, test, and embed new business processes or systems that enhance efficiency and sustainability within the team.
Build strong relationships across finance departments and the wider business community to improve data quality standards, standardise processes where possible, and deliver outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
To excel as Billings Team Leader you will bring substantial experience from roles involving complex high-value billing operations ideally within large organisations or those with multiple entities. Your proven ability to lead teams through effective coaching performance management objective setting development planning will ensure your direct reports feel supported motivated and able to grow professionally. A deep understanding of end-to-end billing processes including revenue completeness reconciliations dispute management financial controls will allow you to maintain robust standards while navigating intricate commercial arrangements.
Ideally ypu will have experience in the following areas:
Significant experience managing complex high-volume billing operations across multiple business streams within large or multi-entity organisations is essential for success in this role.
Proven track record of leading teams through coaching sessions performance management objective setting development planning and regular feedback is required.
Deep understanding of end-to-end billing processes including revenue completeness reconciliations dispute management financial controls is vital.
Ability to operate as a credible subject matter expert who can analyse complex issues communicate clear recommendations to stakeholders at various levels is highly desirable.
Experience producing KPIs management information reports ad hoc analysis supporting performance monitoring decision-making is expected.
Demonstrable history of working collaboratively with finance commercial operational transformation stakeholders implementing embedding change is advantageous.
Strong organisational prioritisation attention-to-detail skills enabling accurate delivery against demanding monthly deadlines are necessary.
Knowledge of SAP third-party billing systems would be beneficial; advanced Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel are required.
