Health and Safety Manager

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager who wants to take ownership of the function across a fast-growing group of three specialist businesses. The successful appointment will head up health and safety, quality management and compliance across all three companies, with a clear remit to drive the function forward rather than simply run audits. The group covers roofing, construction and a rapidly expanding facades business. The roofing arm sits at circa £18 million turnover with over 70 years of combined experience across public, private and educational sectors. The construction division is at £9 to £10 million, and the facades business, launched 18 months ago, delivers cladding, metal roofing and fire remediation with a genuine trajectory towards £30 to £40 million turnover in the coming years. Based at the head office in the Milton Keynes area, this senior appointment will take ownership of the quality management system, lead implementation of PAS 2030, and keep the group's three ISO accreditations audit-ready through the twice-yearly cycle. This is a hands-on senior role with a proper mix of office and site presence, reporting directly into senior leadership. Health and Safety Manager Salary & Benefits Salary: Circa £70,000 (DOE) Company Car or Car Allowance (depending on personal circumstances) 21 Days Annual Leave Plus Bank Holidays Additional 1 Day Holiday Per Year After 3 Years' Service, Up to a Maximum of 5 Extra Days Pension Scheme Flexibility Around Outside Commitments Company Days Out, Friday Pub Trips and Company Trips Genuine seat at the leadership table across three growing businesses Health and Safety Manager Job Overview Head up the health and safety function across three group businesses: roofing, construction and facades Take ownership of the quality management system and drive continuous improvement across the group Lead implementation of PAS 2030, ideally arriving with a clear step-by-step method for delivery Maintain and improve the group's three ISO accreditations, keeping the business audit-ready through the twice-yearly cycle Develop and implement group-wide health and safety policies, procedures and processes Provide practical, hands-on health and safety leadership across live sites, ensuring compliance and driving good practice Carry out site inspections, audits and risk assessments, working closely with project teams to resolve issues at source Deliver training, toolbox talks and briefings across the workforce Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents, ensuring lessons learned are embedded Advise senior leadership on regulatory changes, compliance risk and best practice Support the growth of the facades division as it scales, embedding H&S maturity from an early stage Health and Safety Manager Requirements Proven Health and Safety Manager experience within construction, roofing, facades or a closely related sector Genuinely senior mindset with the ability to head up the function and drive it forward, not just administer it Strong practical site presence combined with confident office-based work on QMS, processes and ISO systems Working knowledge of PAS 2030 and demonstrable experience of implementation is highly desirable Experience managing ISO accreditations and preparing businesses for external audits NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification required; membership of IOSH or similar is desirable Roofing or facades sector background is a plus for understanding the works, but not essential Building Safety Act knowledge is desirable rather than a requirement Confident communicator, able to engage credibly with directors, site teams and external stakeholders Full UK driving licence Based within a sensible commute of the Milton Keynes area What Makes This Opportunity Different?
