About the role
A South London Local Authority is currently seeking an experienced Tenancy Rights Advisor to join their housing service on an initial 10-month contract. This opportunity offers a competitive rate of £30.96 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) and the chance to play a key role in supporting vulnerable residents across the borough.
The successful candidate will provide specialist advice and guidance to tenants on a range of housing and tenancy matters, including housing law, tenancy agreements, eviction notices, rent arrears, landlord disputes, and homelessness prevention. You will support residents experiencing unsafe housing conditions, harassment, discrimination, and disrepair issues, ensuring they are fully informed of their legal rights and available options.
Key responsibilities will also include assisting with complaints, mediation, and court or tribunal preparation, as well as liaising with legal, financial, and support agencies to secure positive outcomes for clients. Maintaining accurate case records and managing complex caseloads effectively will form an important part of the role.
Applicants should have previous experience within tenancy rights, housing advice, homelessness prevention, or a local authority setting, together with a strong understanding of current UK housing legislation and excellent communication skills.
This is an excellent opportunity for a housing professional looking to make a meaningful impact within a well-established local authority team.
