Daily Rate: £700 to £800 Inside IR35
Clearance: UKSV SC Clearance Required

Are you a VMware expert looking to make a real impact in a highly secure and mission-critical environment?

We're seeking a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join a cutting-edge defence programme, taking ownership of a complex virtualised infrastructure estate and driving the delivery of resilient, high-performance platforms that support critical operations.

In this role, you'll lead the design, deployment and optimisation of VMware environments, working across vSphere, vSAN, HA/DRS, networking and disaster recovery solutions. You'll be responsible for ensuring platform stability, performance, security and scalability, while supporting infrastructure projects from data centre deployments through to operational support.

What you'll bring:

• Strong experience administering VMware vSphere, including ESXi, vCenter, clusters and resource pools.
• Expertise in vSAN design, deployment and support.
• Proven knowledge of HA/DRS, failover planning and resilient infrastructure design.
• Solid understanding of VMware networking, including vSwitches, distributed switches, VLANs and network segmentation.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimising VM and host performance.
• Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery tools such as Veeam, SRM, Zerto or Avamar.
• Experience implementing security hardening, role-based access controls and compliance standards.
• Hands-on experience with racking and stacking infrastructure hardware within data centre environments.

Desirable:

• VMware Horizon / VDI experience.
• PowerCLI scripting, automation and infrastructure provisioning.
