Transport Supervisor

Transport Team Leader - Barnsley - Up to £35,000 (4 on 4 off, 06:00 - 18:00) The Role This Transport Team Leader opportunity is with a well-established 3PL operation based in Barnsley, supporting a fast-paced transport function delivering high service levels to a diverse customer base. The business is looking for a hands-on Transport Team Leader who can support the day-to-day transport operation, lead from the front and ensure drivers, planners and the wider operation work together efficiently. You'll play a key role in maintaining service performance, operational compliance and customer satisfaction across a busy 4 on 4 off shift pattern. Working closely with the wider Logistics distribution and supply chain function, you'll help drive operational performance while creating a positive and accountable team culture. Key responsibilities Supervising the day-to-day transport operation across a busy 3PL environment Leading driver briefings, debriefs and supporting the transport team throughout the shift Monitoring vehicle departures, delivery performance and customer service levels Supporting transport planning and responding to live operational issues as they arise Ensuring compliance with drivers' hours, Working Time Directive and transport legislation Working closely with warehouse and wider Logistics distribution and supply chain teams to ensure seamless operational delivery Monitoring operational KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service Supporting the development and performance of drivers and transport colleagues Key experience Previous experience operating as a Transport Team Leader, Transport Supervisor or within a transport planning leadership role Background within a 3PL, retail or fast-paced distribution environment Strong understanding of transport legislation, drivers' hours and operational compliance Experience leading operational teams within a live transport environment Comfortable making decisions under pressure and managing changing priorities Experience working within a Logistics distribution and supply chain environment Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) would be advantageous This Transport Team Leader role in Barnsley offers the opportunity to join a growing 3PL business where you'll have real responsibility, excellent exposure to a busy transport operation and the chance to develop your leadership career.
