Credit Analyst - Credit Approval Location: Moorgate, London Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 Department: Credit Approval / Risk Grade: Officer The Opportunity We are working with a leading banking organisation to recruit a Credit Analyst to join its Credit Approval Unit in Moorgate. Reporting to the Head of Credit Approval, this role will support the assessment and approval of BTL and commercial financing proposals, ensuring strong credit quality, effective risk management and adherence to internal policies and UK regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Assess BTL and commercial financing proposals against credit policy and delegated mandate. Analyse financial information and identify key credit risks, mitigants and areas requiring further investigation. Review credit applications and liaise with Relationship Managers to resolve queries within agreed turnaround times. Ensure credit proposals and supporting documentation meet internal requirements before submission for approval. Monitor the performance and ongoing dynamics of the existing credit portfolio. Review monthly and quarterly portfolio reports and contribute to annual reviews. Prepare reports and information for credit sanctioning committees. Maintain accurate electronic records of credit requests and supporting documentation. Identify and highlight any gaps or weaknesses within the credit process. Ensure ongoing compliance with Group credit policies and UK regulatory requirements. Liaise with Credit Administration, Finance, Compliance, Audit and other relevant teams. Support projects and assignments as required by the Head of Credit Approval. What We're Looking For 3+ years' commercial credit risk management experience, with direct exposure to credit decision-making and sanctioning procedures. Experience within Relationship Management or direct exposure to commercial lending clients. Strong understanding of the UK SME lending and Trade Finance market. Excellent understanding of financial statements and financial analysis. Strong knowledge of credit risks and mitigants for both on- and off-balance-sheet facilities. Understanding of Basel, PRA and FCA regulatory requirements and credit risk policies. Hands-on experience using nCino is essential. Strong Excel and spreadsheet/database skills. Experience with emerging market SMEs, business models and industry trends would be advantageous. Workout/restructuring experience with problematic corporate accounts would be desirable. The Ideal Candidate You will be commercially minded, analytical and confident in exercising sound credit judgement. You will be comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Strong communication and relationship-management skills are essential, as the role involves regular interaction with Relationship Managers, senior management and teams across the wider organisation.
