Senior Environmental Advisor

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and building services organisation on the appointment of a Senior Environmental Manager.This is a senior leadership opportunity within a rapidly growing business delivering complex engineering, offsite manufacturing, data centre and decarbonisation projects across the UK and Europe.Reporting to the Head of HSE, you will take ownership of environmental strategy and performance across the organisation, ensuring regulatory compliance while driving sustainability, carbon reduction and continual improvement.In your new role:Lead the development and delivery of the organisation's environmental strategy across multiple operations and projectsDevelop, maintain and continually improve the Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, permits and other compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictionsMaintain and develop environmental aspects and impacts registers, compliance registers and supporting environmental documentationLead environmental audits, inspections and regulatory compliance programmes across complex operational environmentsProvide expert guidance on waste management, pollution prevention, resource efficiency, biodiversity and environmental riskDevelop and lead sustainability and carbon-reduction initiatives, supporting wider Net Zero objectivesMonitor environmental performance and analyse data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvementLead environmental improvement programmes and ensure measurable progress against environmental objectives and KPIsSupport the development of ESG, carbon and sustainability reporting across the organisationWork closely with project delivery teams and clients to ensure environmental requirements are embedded throughout project deliveryProvide environmental leadership, coaching and technical guidance to teams across the businessEngage with senior leadership and key stakeholders, presenting environmental performance, risks and strategic recommendationsManage environmental resources, budgets and improvement programmes to support continued business growthWhat you'll need to succeed:Degree-level qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability or a related disciplineSignificant experience within environmental management at senior or leadership levelExtensive knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory compliance requirementsProven experience developing, implementing and continually improving an ISO 14001 certified Environmental Management SystemStrong experience managing environmental compliance programmes, audits, inspections and permitting across multiple sites or complex operationsStrong understanding of sustainability, carbon reduction, climate-related risks and environmental performance managementProven leadership experience, including coaching and developing environmental professionalsExcellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex environmental information and translate findings into practical actionsStrong communication and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior and executive-level stakeholdersExperience managing environmental budgets, resources and improvement programmesDesirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):Chartered status, Fellowship or advanced membership of a recognised environmental professional bodyExperience developing and delivering Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas reduction initiativesExperience supporting organisational Net Zero strategies and carbon-reduction targetsKnowledge of ESG frameworks, climate-related disclosures and sustainability reporting requirementsExperience developing sustainable procurement or supply-chain sustainability programmesExperience preparing and presenting environmental, ESG or sustainability performance reports to Executive or Board-level stakeholdersPrevious environmental experience within engineering, construction, manufacturing, building services, data centres or major infrastructure projectsFor a more detailed brief and a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with Sam Geddis, our Health & Safety Specialist, today.Discipline(s): Environmental, Health & SafetyJob type: Permanent
