Cleaner with Enhanced DBS check

Job Purpose

To maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment within the school premises, ensuring high standards of cleanliness across classrooms, corridors, toilets, offices and communal areas.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Cleaning Duties

• Clean classrooms, corridors, staircases and communal areas.
• Wipe desks, tables, chairs and hard surfaces.
• Vacuum carpets and mop hard flooring.
• Empty bins and dispose of waste safely.
• Clean toilets, washrooms and replenish consumables (soap, paper towels, toilet tissue).
• Clean internal glass, doors, handles and touchpoints.
• Maintain hygiene in staffrooms, kitchens and dining areas (light cleaning only, not catering duties).

Periodic / Weekly Tasks

• Dusting skirting boards, window sills, shelves and fixtures.
• Deep cleaning of toilet areas.
• Damp-wiping walls and surfaces as required.
• Spot-cleaning marks from walls and paintwork.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

• Work in line with COSHH regulations for cleaning chemicals.
• Follow all safeguarding protocols within a school environment.
• Ensure equipment is used safely and stored securely (e.g., vacuums, mops, chemicals).
• Report hazards, damage or maintenance issues to Site Manager.
• Ensure all doors are locked and areas are secured after cleaning (if part of role).

Requirements

Essential

• Previous cleaning experience (idealy in commercial, office, or school).
• Ability to work independently and follow a cleaning schedule.
• Good awareness of health & safety and hygiene practices.
• Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
• Enhanced DBS check

The working hours are Monday - Friday 3:15pm - 6:15pm

The pay rates are £12.71 per hour
