About the role
Job Title: Mechanical Fitter – Wastewater Treatment
Summary
Responsible for installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment used in wastewater treatment plants, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair pumps, valves, pipework, and rotating equipment
Carry out planned and reactive maintenance
Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Support shutdowns, inspections, and fault finding
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards
Complete maintenance reports and documentation
Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter (ideally in water/wastewater or industrial environments)
Knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, valves, and pipe systems
Ability to read technical drawings
Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent)
CSCS card (preferred for site-based roles)
Desirable
Experience with water utilities such as Thames Water
Confined space training
Experience in MEICA environments
